Calin's favorite blanket {the one I have already fixed from tearing once - the one I turned into TWO} has just about retired - both of them.

They both have huge tears in them right now. And I'm not sure I can keep fixing them. So I went on an online hunt for a new one.
I googled "Little Giraffe velvet blankets"

Hmmm . . .
Remember how I only payed $2 for this one?!
Well, turns out, everywhere else they're around $60!
Now I'm totally kicking myself for throwing it in the wash with everything else, and then also into the dryer when it specifically says not to.
What do I do? He won't take a paci anymore, so sometimes his blanket is all that will sooth him, and it does a dang good job, every time! He LOVES it! He lights up just at the sight of it. No other blanket even comes close.
Well, I decided before I fork out $60 on a new blanket, I better try something else first
Especially since that $60 blanket could fall apart just as easily as the first one. Though I don't think I would go with the velvet again since that's the part that keeps falling apart.
So I compromised, and went organic . . .

Gilt Groupe had Shi Shu Baby blankets on sale for about 70% off. I've heard great things about these blankets too, so I bought a snuggler for only $10. I'm really hoping it works out.
If not, Calin will have to choose between having clothes to get dressed in each day, or a blanket.
Ha, I wonder what he would choose :)
{ Update: I just heard that Gilt is having a sale on Little Giraffe blankets starting this Thursday! I hope it's a good sale! For Calin's sake of course :) I already set up a reminder for it }

My kids were attached to their first blankets just like Calin. I ended up buying the same materials and sewing duplicate blankets. Let me know if the one you gets works for him otherwise I could try sewing him a duplicate.
Okay little daughter, I went through this with all 3 of you little blanket buggers! NOTHING will take the place of a child's favorite blanket. It's purpose is no longer a "blanket." It's like your favorite pet or favorite person. They get old and worn out, and sometimes they die; the main thing is, you can't replace them. I tried, believe me!! I had a ton of blankets, exactly like the ones you were attached to, but alas, when it came down to choosing, you guys would go for the tiny shred of the beloved blanket leftovers. With Dominic I was lucky enough to have 2 identical blankets from the beginning; that's the way to go if you can! And with Alan, I left his plain white one at a friend's house, he went ballistic, and I pulled a similar one out with a picture of Big Bird, and he was hooked on that for the rest of his life (as a baby boy). So, my advice is to salvage whatever scrap of his blankee you can, and just use that as his comfort. Then go ahead with your plan for making or buying a similar blanket with the purpose of being "a blanket."
Love you - you're awesome!!!!!!!!!!
