10 Months

{I'm kind of using this post to play catch-up, so it's pretty long, with lots of pics and videos}

Wow, Calin's 1st birthday will be here before I know it!
This past month has probably been one of my favorites with Calin.
He's been so much fun. And more of his personality shines through each day! He is such a fun and happy baby!

He recently learned how to play catch and Loves it! He even enjoys playing by himself.

Some friends of ours let us borrow their walker/push toy. Most of the time Calin just crawls with it, or plays with the toys on the front, but when we encourage him, he walks with it. I wonder if this will help him walk sooner? He still doesn't show any interest in anything but army crawling. He has improved his army crawl though (he really can crawl, and pretty well, but he prefers army crawling to anything else - silly kid).
Here are some videos of him walking with his toy and his new and improved army crawl

Calin probably went about 3 months without sleeping through the night (a full 10-12 hours straight). He got into the habit of waking up around 4am, screaming, every night no matter what time we put him down. And sadly he is the type of baby who will not stop crying on his own.
{Which is weird because he has no problem soothing himself to sleep. I always, 99% of the time, put him down when he's awake}
So for 3 months I woke up at 4am, fed him, and put him back down. For me it was no big deal. Within 10 minutes I was back in bed asleep. But I was worried for Calin. And didn't want to do the whole cry-it-out thing again (especially since now he would probably cry straight till morning), but this month he started sleeping straight through the night. All on his own! So that has been wonderful! (I actually think it had a lot to do with his blanket - once I gave it back to him, he stopped waking up. I've been trying to transition him to a new one that isn't falling apart. Hope it works).

Since the weather has been warming up, I've been taking Calin to the splash park quite a bit. He's usually afraid of the water at first (he gets super cuddly which I love because it is so not like him), but once he warms up to it, he loves it. He just sits at the little water spout and jabbers away to the other babies next to him. It's so cute. And grass has never bothered him. He likes that he can pick it up {and eat it when I'm not looking}

He's been doing tons better with solid foods! He'll now eat cheerios, puffs, rice cakes, and other things that we're eating for our meal - without throwing up. Pureed veggies are still a challenge, but he'll eat pretty much any pureed fruit now, and some fresh ones too. Oh, and all 8 of his teeth are in now.

Calin and I have worked out a system for doing dishes. He used to just climb right inside the dishwasher if I tried doing dishes while he was awake, and somehow I would always wake him up if I tried doing them while he was sleeping, so we finally figured it out. I have to empty all the utensils first, except for his own spoons. Then while I unload everything else, he takes each spoon out, then puts them back, over and over again. I think it's the only thing he actually puts back. He loves taking things out, but never puts them back. So he's learning a little something from the dishwasher :)

He discovered the toilet paper in the bathroom. Now, we usually keep an empty roll on there so he can spin that without making a mess (he also likes to eat it - yuck). Somehow he still thinks it's just as exciting :)

At church this Sunday, Calin was watching his friend Braylie use her teeth to remove the cap from the puffs canister. She would do this over and over and over (she was also smart enough to try to put it back on each time). As soon as we got home, Calin grabbed the puffs jar and has been doing the same thing all week. Haha, the things kids teach each other!

He also sang along with me at church on Sunday. And I finally captured a picture of him singing:

How fun! What a funny little guy with his army crawl. Why crawl the conventional way when he is so fast with his army style! Does he army crawl under shairs and stuff too?

That's awesome that he is eating more and more regular food. Isn't it so nice to just cut up what your eating and share it with him?

Awesome that you could borrow a toy like Ty has! Ty walks around with that thing all day. I think he is walking on his own behind my back but when I am watching he crawls... hmmm a closet walker...

Loved all the pictures and the videos :)

Am I the only one that noticed he picked the ball up with his Left hand? Maybe it'll change when he gets older, but so far a lefty!

he's so good at that army crawling! I would choose that over regular crawling too; you can go faster and it's less painful on your knees. Smart Calin! He's just so adorable michaela! He's got the sweetest smile in the whole world!
