Then and Now

First, since my family keeps asking, yes things did get better last week :) The play group was a lot of fun, and I was so amazed at how well all the kids played together, and since they did so well, us moms (5 of us) had lots of time to chat and have some girl time. It should be in the 20's this week which is a little better, but I'm still hoping for an early early spring!

Now, since we find out in ONE WEEK if we're having a boy or girl, and no one has put in their guesses, I thought I would share some differences/similarities with the two pregnancies so far, and yes, I finally took a picture (before I found the battery charger for my camera - which was in my diaper bag of all places - so it was with our iMac, sorry for the bad quality).

Similarities:

* I don't think I'm any bigger than I was at this time with Calin. I know they say you show earlier with your second, but I showed so early with Calin, and I started showing way early with this one, but I think it was around the same time (11-12 weeks). I don't know, sometimes I feel a little smaller than I did with Calin, we'll see.

* My go-to food with my last pregnancy was buttermilk waffles. It was the one thing I could eat anytime and usually always keep it down. Not the case now. I usually get sick with just the thought of them. This time, my go-to food is banana pancakes, yum! And they're healthier too, so that's a plus! But they're so similar, so we'll say it's a similarity.

* I still haven't put on any weight. I think it was around 17 weeks that I finally gained my first pound with Calin, so that seems to be similar.

* I haven't felt any movement. I know it was after 20 weeks that I started feeling Calin move, so we'll see.

* I still don't want to ever eat anything, but I have to eat at least every two hours, so I do, but I hate it.

Differences:

* Way sicker! I threw up quite a bit with Calin and was sick from weeks 8-18, but it was manageable without medicine. Not the case with this one. It started around 5 weeks and is still going. I think I got Zofran around 10 weeks, and before that I went days without being able to keep a single thing down. It started out just being every other day I could keep food down, but finally got to the point where it was almost 3 full days in a row that I couldn't even keep a single sip of water down. Oh it was horrible. I count the fact that I was able to stay out of the hospital as a blessing, because honestly, we couldn't figure out how I was still functioning. Some days I still throw up. And some days the meds don't help, but most days I'm good, and I'm hoping it ends soon as I'm approaching 18 weeks :)

* I have kept all my hair so far. I can't remember when it started falling out with Calin, but I know it was before 18 weeks and continued till he was about 6 months old. Oh, that was a disaster! Luckily I have tons, but I lost about 1/3, and it's just barely to the point where the new hair doesn't look so weird so hopefully I continue to keep it!

* I am so so tired! I remember being tired with Calin, but I think I'm more tired now. Though that's probably because I'm chasing around a toddler all day long.

* I sweat. I never sweat, but I do now. Like Jordan, I have to be working out pretty darn hard to work up a sweat, but now I will sweat just around the house. Gross! This better just be a pregnancy side effect!

* My skin is so so itchy! If my uncomfortable belly doesn't keep me up at night, my itchy skin does.

And for the long awaited ugly prego pics :)

17 weeks with baby #2

And for a comparison,
this was around 15 weeks with Calin

Another difference - even though we found out SUPER early, this pregnancy has been going SO fast! I think I'm just freaking out about having two kids! Mostly just a newborn with a wild toddler. I am excited for this baby, and even though I hate being pregnant, I hope the next 5 month don't fly by too fast. With baby #1, things couldn't have gone slower, but I can't believe I'm almost half way done already! Yikes!

Ok, now it's time for your guesses :)
And you can also put them in the poll to the right if you'd like
My guess - boy. Better odds with that guess. But a girl would make me super happy too, especially since she would have Ashlyn and Maylee, two Spence girl cousins her same age to play with. And if we do have a boy, I'll just hope one of my Valponi sisters-in-law jumps on the bandwagon and has a boy his age - what do you say Jenna? ;)

Man I'm sorry you were so sick. I am so lucky that way. I think it's another boy! Excited to hear what it is. Your prego pics are so cute! You are so tiny. The play date last week was really fun, we need to do it again. Allison is really sick, I wonder if anyone else from the play date is?

I'm leaning more towards a boy, but it would be sweet for 3 Spence girl cousins in your guys' Spence clan. Excited to hear what you're having next week!

Okay So when I looked at your then and now pics, my first thought was "she looks older and sophisticated"...must be your darker, layered hair. :) Either way you're skinny minnie in both pics. I looked that big at 10 weeks! LOL

Girl! Hair not falling out...estrogen. itchy skin...estrogen. Ok just kidding about the last one. Wave of boys. Now wave of girls. No way they were going to let the boys dominate any longer.

My vote is boy...although I voted wrong last time, so maybe I should switch :) You're sickness sounds so yucky and miserable. You're always so optimistic, I'm sure that makes it much more manageable! Good luck! Can't wait to hear what you're having!
