18 Months

My dad called me tonight and told me the last picture I posted of Calin was on Valentine's day.  I told him there was no way that was true!  He told me I needed to post some pictures tonight.  So, when we got off the phone I checked. Sure enough, it has been over a month since I posted a picture of Calin (I'm sure my dad is not the only one wondering where cute little Cal has been).   Well, we don't have very exciting days here stuck inside all winter, so my camera has been collecting dust.  These were the only pictures I have taken since Valentine's day.

I have been meaning to post his 18 month update, so here is a LONG post all about Calin for his fans out there :)
(hopefully the videos will make up for the lack of photos)

We took him in for his wellness check earlier this month.  He received the round of shots he will need till he's 5.  That's makes us all happy!

Here are his stats:

Weight
18 months: 23.1 lbs - 26th percentile
15 months: 22 lbs - 14th percentile

Height
18 months: 31.5" - 26th percentile
15 months: 30.3" - 19th percentile

Head Circumference
18 months: 18.3" - 14th percentile
15 months: 18.3" - 24th percentile

And for a long update:

He loves playing with other kids.  He really loves to blow kisses to little girls he sees when we're out and about.  Actually he loves to blow kisses to everyone, but if there is a little girl he's staring at and I tell him "say hi" he usually will blow her a kiss instead.  It's pretty cute!

His favorite foods:
Fruit!  He loves fruit!
Cheese, eggs, and ham - together or seperate
Whole-wheat saltine crackers
Chocolate.  He doesn't get it very often, but if Jordan and I have dessert, and mine is chocolate and Jordan's is vanilla, he refuses Jordan's and would eat all of mine if I would let him.

He loves to sing the Wheels on the Bus.  We have a pop-up book of it, and it's his absolute favorite.  His favorite page/verse is to say "shh shh shh" That's usually the only one he'll do on his own.  But this book will resolve any tantrum and make him instantly happy :)

He loves to have conversations with us.  We have no idea what he's saying, but he does.  He talks with his hands, and has all kinds of facial expressions.  We've been trying to capture one on camera, but when we pull it out he gets distracted.  This video is the best one so far even though I think he's just saying the same thing over and over the whole time.  At the very end of the video he ran up and gave Jordan a hug, it was really cute, but the camera cut out :(

We only call his blanket "blanket."  But he has a different name for it, and we have NO idea what it is he's trying to say.  It's a cross between "dots" and "dice"  If he knew what dots or dice where I guess that would kind of make sense because his blanket has polka-dots all over it, but I'm certain he has no idea what dots or dice are.  He uses that word exclusively for his blanket, and even when we say "where's your blanket?" He starts searching, and saying it over and over.
Did you notice how he says "bye"  He likes to add an S on the end of words.  He usually calls Jordan "dadys"  :)

He loves to brush his teeth.  He usually won't want to get out of the bath at night, but when I say "do you want to brush your teeth?" he gets so excited!  And he always wants to brush his if he sees us brushing ours.

He has been super cuddly the past few months.  He's never been a cuddly kid, so it's weird, almost like he knows he's not going to be the only one soon.  We even had to let him sleep in our bed one night last month because he refused to sleep anywhere but right next to us (Jordan says he's done it before, but I honestly cannot remember a single time.  Maybe Jordan has laid with him in our bed during the day, but I'm sure he's never been in our bed at night).  Recently he's been great with sleeping and naps, but even just a couple weeks ago I would have to rock him for so long before he would lay down for a nap.  If I didn't, he would just cry in his crib for an hour (if it's been an hour and he's still crying, I know he's not going to stop, and I just go get him).  Oh, and he'll sleep in my arms again.  At church he's fallen asleep a couple times during sacrament meeting, and I held him while he slept through my S.I.L's baby shower last month (it was pretty loud, but because I was holding him, he stayed asleep - I kept trying to put him in the crib, but he would wake up crying, then fall back asleep when I held him).  It's just strange since it's been almost a year since he's done that.  But it's kind of nice. I don't mind a cuddly little guy, I do mind when he won't sleep on his own, but he's been back to normal lately, so no biggie :)

And here is a bonus video of Calin trying to roll his eyes.  If my family thought I was bad at rolling my eyes, they really need to watch Jordan.  He rolls his eyes ALL the time (sorry hun, but you do).  Most of the time he blames it on his contacts, but there is no way his contacts just happen to bother him at all the right/wrong moments.  I'm trying to get him to break the habit before our little girl comes around.  If our 1.5 year old son is already trying to roll his, we're in trouble.

*Yes, I know my house is a total disaster in just about every video.  Just keeping it real :)*

Enjoyed all the videos and pics - Calin is super cute! He does totally use his face and hands a lot when he talks, you sure he's not Italian? :)

My kids both were attached to their baby blankets (in fact they both still sleep with them). I'm not sure how but they both called them their "homies". Maybe Calin does know what a dot is. He seems like a really smart toddler!

He looks so fun! I love to see how grown up he is! I wish we lived closer, I think the boys would have a blast! Hope you're doing better and things finish off for Jordan well as this school adventure comes to an end!

I'm a Calin fan. He is a cutie. And watch out, the terrible 2's often start right about now. They did for me, but only with Tanner. Dallin's started recently and he is almost 3. We will miss you guys. When Jordan does clinical affiliations with his program be sure to come to Medford Oregon for one. :)

I am with Kelly! I am a HUGE fan too! Loved the videos and pictures. My favorite was the rolling the eyes. I think he does a pretty good impersonation of "Jordan". Just say something sarcastically and he'll do it. I'd say he does it 10..no..30..no..50 times a day! :) See!!...he just did it again! :)
