Little Rock Zoo

Last week we made a trip to the Little Rock Zoo.  Calin wasn't too interested, and neither was I (Jordan loved it and kept telling us to have more fun, hehe).  The animals hardly moved at all.  Most of the time it was just an "I Spy" game, trying to find where the animal was hiding out.  We made it about half way around the zoo before Calin fell asleep.  Others have gone in the morning and said it's much better and the animals are awake and much more alive so it must have just been the time of day we went.

Of course the only picture I got with an animal in it had to be a donkey - oh well.

He remained sleeping the whole way home.

And speaking of Calin sleeping, for the past two weeks or so he has been waking up at 5:45am on the dot every.single.morning.  It's like there is an alarm clock going off in his room or something.  It doesn't matter what time I put him down at night, he's still up at 5:45 in the morning.  Last night he went down after 8:00 (usually it's 7:00-7:30) then he woke up around 1:00 (Jordan thinks it was from the Thunder storm?) and didn't go back to sleep till almost 3:00.  I thought for sure he would sleep in, but sure enough 5:45 rolled around and he was up.  AHH!  I have no idea what is going on, he's always had such great sleeping habits, and I really want to get this fixed before the baby comes.  I just can't figure out why he is waking up at that time every morning.  5:45 is just too early for me!

Funny we are thinking of going to the Portland Zoo in a few weeks... note to self go in the morning.

TY HAS BEEN WAKING THAT EARLY TOO! It's killing me! Maylee wakes up anywhere between 5:30-7 to eat and the last thing I want is Ty waking me up BEFORE that. I need my sleep! I think it's because here the sun comes up SUPER early. I am going to make some black out curtains to go in his room, maybe that will help him.

Mickie - That is crazy, what are these little guys thinking? I hope the black out curtains will help Ty. The blinds in our place block out almost all light even in the middle of the day, otherwise I would be trying the same thing for Calin. But really, these kids are crazy getting up so early. Is it an age thing?

I've never had to deal with early risers, our kids act like rock stars (love to stay up late, and sleep in!). I'd say for both you and Mickie - these guys are probably just adjusting to the new home. They're excited and want to wake up and not miss out on anything. Can you put baby gates on their bedroom doors? Tell them no matter what time they wake up they have to play quietly until 7am (maybe put an alarm clock in their room) in their room and can't come out until then. Cute zoo pics!

Zoos are better in the mornings! And the more you go the more interested Calin will get.

As for waking up early on the dot. It might be a noise that starts or stops at 5:45 everyday. Tyler did the same thing but woke up at 2:00 every morning. Until we figured out the pool pump kicked on at 2:00.

It could also be the new adjustments. Good luck. It wipes you out but he'll go back to being a good sleeper.

Ezra did the same thing before I had Makai. I asked a lot of people about it and they said it was maybe because he was feeling the changes of a new baby on the way. I thought that was ridiculous, but after speaking to a lot of people who went through the same thing, it might be true. It didn't last long for him, so hopefully Calin grows out of it fast too.

It's the sun! Put a blanket or curtains up. Guarantee it will work!! ...ok, maybe not, but I'm pretty darn sure. Why? because that's what time I keep waking up. Good think I tell myself that I need to go back to sleep.

We are early morning people. It's a great time to be up. Early to bed - early to rise etc. etc.
