Calin has been very busy this past month!
*He's learned to roll from his back to his tummy.
*He's learned to put his feet in his mouth.
*He has started to sleep through the night.
*He has started eating solid foods (well, rice cereal anyway)
He's such a HAPPY little guy! He LOVES church because of all the smiling faces! His chubby cheeks sure get a work out with him smiling for 3 hours! If he can catch someone smiling, he WILL smile back. The exception is only when he's ready for a nap. Bad days for me just don't happen anymore. This smiley cute baby of mine helps me keep the right perspective on life. His smiles are so contagious, and who can be sad or unhappy when they can't stop smiling?
One of his favorite games is to put a light blanket over his face and play "peek-a-boo." He covers his face with a blanket and starts waving his arms and legs and laughing under the blanket. Then he pulls the blanket off his face and look surprised for a second before he stats smiling and laughing again. This keeps him entertained for very long periods of time. Two nights in a row last week he woke up and did this for about 20min before falling back asleep.
One big thing that we discovered this month is that he recognizes the word "hungry." I'm sure it's just the vocal inflections he recognizes, but I guess I always say the work hungry when I'm about to feed him. One day I was just holding him on my lap, face out, I looked at the time and realized it was past time for him to eat. But he wasn't acting hungry at all, which was strange, so I said to him "Calin, are you hungry?" And he immediately turned to look at me, started his "hungry whine" and tried to eat. I've done the same thing quite a bit since then, and each time the result is the same. The things baby's pick up on amazes me!
I just barely started him on solids. I wanted to wait till 6 months, but he seemed ready. He's been doing well with rice cereal so far. He makes a big disgusted look to let us know he does not want anymore.
A few other things of note: He still loves baths. When he's around other babies, he always holds their hands. He enjoys us reading to him. He only uses a paci when he's sleepy, he can't keep one in when he's awake because of all his smiles. He loves going outside, even when it's below 20 degrees. He loves watching the snow fall, but does not enjoy it falling on him. He's grown out of many of his 3-6month clothes, and wears a lot of 6-9month. People often comment on how much he smiles, and say they rarely see babies his age smile so much, I don't really have anyone to compare him to, I just know he smiles A LOT! And that makes me happy!
*And a note about our day today - Our shower faucet broke yesterday morning. We had to shut off our water to get the water to stop running. And our heater isn't working either. Do they have anything to do with each other? It is now close to 60 degrees in our apartment! Burrrr! I have the space heater going in Calin's room, so he's staying nice an toasty, but I am freezing and thankful for UGGS! (they were supposed to fix it this morning, but it's approaching afternoon, and still no heat, or shower.*

So Fun! It seems like our babies are discovering things about the same time! It's so exciting to see their progression! Hopefully they get your water and heater fixed soon! That's the worst time to be out of a heater, especially in Rexburg!
Yikes I hope your water and heater get fixed asap!
Okay that is like the cutest pic ever - such a happy baby! Can't wait to meet him one day!
Ok, I'm getting sick of seeing Calin smile so big!... Alright, not really. Sorry to hear about the water heater. looks like you'll be bathing in a pot full of water that you heated on the stove, huh?!! LOL! Good luck with that!
Dang that kid is good looking. Love my smiling grandkids. They are all fantastic. Thanks for the monthly updated pictures.
